Mission
Statement
To share God's love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ to the multisport
(triathlon duathlon, adventure racing, etc.) community (athletes,
spectators, organizers, media, etc. ) in the U. S. and around
the world.
Vision
With the great popularity of multisport events
and the nature of how they are run, with many spectators standing
around during the races, it seems very easy for personal evangelism
and distribution of Christian literature to take place.
Objectives
1) Develop teams of multisport athletes who are Christians
and committed to the philosophy and principles of Athletes
In Action. These individuals would probably compete as club
members who must be screened and approved by AIA. They would
race under the name of Athletes In Action and be willing to
promote the gospel before and after the competitions.
2) Develop and train individuals who are willing to pray for
and attend races to share the gospel and distribute Christian
literature to athletes and spectators at the events
3) Develop individuals who would assume leadership in their
state (region) or nation who would organize the outreaches
to the selected local events, be responsible for follow up
of those who become Christians or who have expressed interest
in the gospel, and recruit potential club members to compete
for AIA. At major national or international races the regional
workers would come together and have a larger influence at
these events. If possible these individuals would also have
a presence at the pre race packet pick-ups the day before
the events.
4) Distribution of Christian sports literature to help Christian
athletes grow in their faith and better use their talents
and energy for God's kingdom
5) Use multisport media to communicate the existence and purpose
of the Athletes In Action ministry
6) Utilize other celebrity Christian athletes to participate
in the ministry through their attending and sharing of their
testimonies
7) Develop projects of teams who would travel to various events
during the summer months during the primary competition season.
