1) Competing team member: Anyone who participates in triathlons or duathlons may want to identify themselves with a Christian triathlon club should consider racing as a part of the AIA club. It does not matter what age group or level of ability you are at, everyone is welcome as long as they are in agreement with the policies of Athletes In Action (see "Policies" section) and purchase an Athletes In Action race top which will be available sometime in August 2003 for about $35.00. Race shorts will also be available for $25.00 but these will not be required. Club members can race wherever they want to but as the club grows we will eventually have many races all over the country where goups of AIA club members can agree to participate in together and have a tent outreach.
2) Race outreach coordinator: Anyone who would like to be a leader of Athletes In Action in their region and see a Christian presence in the races in their area should consider this role. The person can be but does not necessarily have to be a race competitor and will work with the triathlon or duathlon race directors to coordinate the tent setup and prerace publicity distribution. The tents and banners will be provided by AIA triathlon.
3) Race workers: Other people who may not be race competitors but want to help the AIA outreach at the races. They can do so by helping to setup and be around the tent before during and after the races. They will be sources of information to people about the purpose of Athletes In Action and possibly have opportunity to share Christ with interested spectators and race participants. Training in personal evangelism will be available for those who need it. 4) Hosts: Since races are all over the country, and many competitors often travel away from their homes, there is a need for individuals to open their homes and allow AIA club members to stay for a night or two when there is a race in their area. This will keep the travel costs down and allow racers to go to more races than they normally might be able to because of expenses. 5)Summer projects: Those who want to take a portion of their summer to go from race to race for a few weeks can consider this opportunity as a short term missions project. The person would be able to raise their own support through Athletes In Action to cover expenses if they want top participate in the project. 6) Prayer and financial support: Like any non profit organization Athletes In Action triathlon needs the spiritual and financial support foundation to exist and function. Indivduals can help by praying for the effectiveness of the outreach ("Apart from Me you can do nothing" John 15:5, and giving money to help with cost of materials that are used for the Athletes In Action triathlon ministry. These donations are tax deductible through AIA.
